
Laurie N. Culp, Ph.D
Dr. Laurie Culp is a native of Charlotte, NC. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia. She completed a predoctoral internship at the James A. Haley VA Medical Center in Tampa, Florida and a post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at Peninsula Medical Associates/University of South Florida in Bradenton, FL. Dr. Culp has maintained a private practice, Pate and Culp Psychological Associates, in the Decatur area for the past 24 years. She provides outpatient neuropsychological evaluation and consultation services to patients with various neurological conditions, including dementia and stroke, with a specialty in geriatric neuropsychology. She conducts all aspects of the neuropsychological evaluation personally, including administering all neuropsychological instruments and providing feedback regarding evaluations to patients and families. She also provides neuropsychological consultation in assisted living facilities and provides seminars and workshops for a variety of professionals, including physicians and social workers. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, School of Medicine, Emory University Dr. Culp is passionate about helping older adults navigate the aging process with grace. Her focus is on assisting older adults with cognitive impairment and their families in coping with complex neurological, medical, and psychiatric issues. She offers assistance and guidance in coping with these difficult issues and believes that it is important to educate and assist patients and families with the caregiving process. She was inspired by her personal family experience with dementia to pursue this specialty and is passionate about working with the geriatric population. ​ Dr. Culp resides in Decatur, GA, with her husband and two college-aged daughters. She enjoys traveling and reading. She is also an avid dancer and takes dance classes when she has the time!
